Fractional CFO for venture funds and an ex-VC. I’ve built financial models and tools since 2005, used by 56k founders and investors in 116 countries.
I built my first financial model in private equity in 1998, started building them for startups in 2000, and put one online in 2008 because I was tired of rebuilding the same structure for every new company. That template became the Standard Financial Model. 56k founders and investors in 116 countries have used Hemrock models since, and I’m still here helping founders and investors use models to understand financial decisions.
I am currently CFO (fractional) at Laconia Capital Group, and I manage financial operations for the firm’s funds and investment vehicles. Before that I was a consultant, angel investor, and venture capitalist, with an MBA in finance and accounting from Carnegie Mellon.
What I believe hasn’t changed much: build the smallest model that answers the question, don’t let detail hide the insight, and focus on the impact, not the artifact. What has changed is that models and tools are no longer the bottleneck. AI is helping us interpret, build, and deploy solutions more targeted, customized, and faster than ever. I’m looking forward to helping you get there.
